Kofi Annan served as the Seventh Secretary General of the United Nations and is now the Founder and Chairman of the Kofi Annan Foundation. In 2001, together with the United Nations he was jointly awarded the Nobel Prize for Peace.
Mr. Annan set up the Kofi Annan Foundation in 2007 to promote better global governance and strengthen the capacities of people and countries to achieve a fairer, more peaceful world.
He is also Chairman of the Africa Progress Panel, which advocates at the highest level for equitable and sustainable development in Africa.
He is an active member of The Elders, an independent group of global leaders who work together for peace and human rights.
